WHAT IS KUNDALINI YOGA?
Kundalini Yoga is the Yoga of Awareness, while its focus is on self-awareness and delivering an experience of our highest consciousness. The technology of Kundalini Yoga is a science of the mind and body used to elevate the spirit. It is an ancient practice designed to awaken the full potential of human awareness in each individual -- recognizing our awareness, refining our intuition and activating our inner vitality.
For thousands of years, this sacred science was veiled in secrecy, passed along from master to chosen disciple. In 1969 Kundalini Yoga was brought to the West by Yogi Bhajan in the height of the hippie era, where so many young people were seeking a new way forward. Kundalini Yoga offered quick access to clarity, elevated consciousness and powerful spiritual experiences….. without the use of drugs!
WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN CLASS?
The focus of Kundalini Yoga is on one’s personal experience and awareness through the practice of specific movements, sound, pranayama, mudras, concentration and meditation. Together, these tools automatically guide the energies of the body and the mind to a specific result or change of consciousness. We awaken the Kundalini in order to be able to call upon the full potential of the nervous and glandular systems and to balance the subtle system of chakras and meridians within the body.
Each class begins with the mantra: "Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo." Throughout class we focus on a Kundalini yoga set, meditation, and attention to breath. We end with deep relaxation, usually with a gong sound bath.

Seva Simran Khalsa, LAc., is a San Francisco based Kundalini Yoga Teacher, Integrative Healer and Wellness Consultant. He combines acupuncture, massage herbology, nutrition, yoga and meditation into a integrated approach to doing his part to make the world a better place.
Seva Simran’s introduction to the practice of wellness began with Kundalini Yoga, through which his experiences were profound and life-changing. He immersed himself in the ancient teachings, studying closely with numerous renowned Kundalini teachers and enjoying the benefits of a strong yogic and meditative discipline. He has also been studying healing via bodywork, nutrition, cleansing, Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture since 2005.
Seva Simran has been teaching Kundalini Yoga for over 15 years since 2004 after receiving certification at Yoga West in Los Angeles and has been working in teacher trainings since 2009. His classes emphasize empowerment and growth to break unwanted habits, strengthen the intuition, move past hidden limitations and come into a deeper relationship with meditative subtle, sensitivity and awareness.
